Impact, actions & engagements remarquablesEN/FR

PlantMad has taken over the production activities of the Jardins du Monde association. PlantMad is working with four village associations in Madirobe (FIVEMIA), Marovato (MAMAFY SOA), Joffreville (FIVOHIFA) and Betahitra (VMT) whose members produce dry leaves on land rented by PlantMad. PlantMad provides producers with equipment and assists them financially and technically for production and organization. PlantMad then buys the dried leaves per kilo from the associations that pay individual producers. The identification of the site was made according to the availability of the desired plant and partnerships already in place with the groups. As a result, the necessary infrastructure was sought to ensure drying in the area. Each member of the group was then trained in harvesting, drying and packaging techniques from organic farming. The selling price of the plants was fixed on the basis of the number of hours provided to harvest a kilo of dry plants. The resale price of the plants to the exporter has been calculated to cover PlantMad's management costs. As a result, a partnership agreement was signed between PlantMad and the consortium, and a contract was signed between the exporter and PlantMad. These documents ensure the durability of production and specify the rules to follow to ensure organic and FFL certification. Following the annual production, the final buyer pays a Fair trade premium which is used to set up development projects. A diagnosis of the priority needs is organized by PlantMad, in connection with the group, which will also be the manager of the implementation of these different projects.
