Impact, special achievements & commitmentsThe Erva-Mate Processing Unit started its activities in 1994 to acquire, benefit and commercialize the yerba mate production of ades em 1994 para adquirir, beneficiar e comercializar a produção de erva-mate de áreas de Assentamentos and Small Rural Producers in the central region of the State of Paraná. Today, Copermate has 226 associates and operates in the domestic and foreign markets in the commercialization of conventional and organic yerba mate derivatives. The objective is to increase the production of certified organic products / FFL as a way of improving the quality of life of society by reducing the risk of intoxication of producers or through the supply of products free of pesticides to the consumer, in both cases based on social and environmental responsibility. The Cooperative uses the resources from the Fair Trade Prize to form the Social Development Fund where a management committee decides on its use according to proposals previously presented by the communities. The investments made were all applied in a communitarian way, either by the structuring of rural community centers or by meeting the needs of care entities such as Daycare, APAE, Center for coexistence and rural schools or focused on technical education in agroecology.
