 | Impact, special achievements & commitments |  |  | The Savannah Fruits Company (SFC) is a Ghanaian registered company based in the middle of the savannah zone of northern Ghana, Tamale. SFC was founded in 2006 on the belief that business can and should produce social good and contribute to the sustainability of our planet's ecosystem. The core business of SFC is production of traditional hand-crafted shea butter and Virgin Coconut Oil. As a contractual producer group, SFC partners with over 2000 women from 29 groups for shea butter processing. About 13000 more women are involved in supplying sheanuts to the sheabutter processors. With 200 coconut farmers and 94 virgin coconut oil processors, SFC employs 45 permanent staff and sells over 2000 tons of shea butter and Virgin Coconut Oil per annum. SFC seeks to empower rural Ghanaian women through the use of community commerce while practicing socially and environmentally responsible business and ensuring value addition at source is maximized. With the aid of FFL certification, SFC has made tremendous social impact on women groups in the various operational area. The Fair-Trade Development Fund (FTDF) paid by clients has been helpful in providing needful infrastructure in our communities such as boreholes for water supply, latrines, renovations of community production facilities and community warehouses. The FTDF management committee is the highest decision-making body who plan and execute all developmental activities outlined by producers. |
