In 2009, GUAYAKI became the first Fair for Life Certification certified yerba mate company. In addition, GUAYAKI is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and holds organic (USDA) and kosher certifications. In Brazil, they operate in 7 communities, including Marrecas, Mangueirinha and Rio da Areia Indigenous Areas, Turvo and Guarapuava Producers Group, Faxinal São Roquinho and Quilombolas, contributing to the development in the areas of food production, sports, education and the environment. 976 families living in these communities through the marketing of yerba mate and the application of the Fair For Life Award. Main businesses in the communities: yerba mate and pine nut harvest, traditional indigenous handicraft production and rural tourism, grain agricultural production, milk production, animal husbandry. | ||||
