Impact, special achievements & commitments | EN/FR African Straw Enterprise Limited (ASEL) operates as a handicraft business producing and exporting straw baskets. ASEL empowers women who are systematically excluded from the formal employment sector with indigenous baskets weaving skills using local resources with the main aim of alleviating poverty in rural communities in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The company has successfully through its operations improved the livelihood of over 5000 baskets weavers in many communities within the Upper East Region. ASEL has a staff strength of thirty-three (33) consisting of 14 (fourteen) permanent and 19 (nineteen) temporal workers. ASEL signs a purchase contract with our basket weavers who are predominantly women. African Straw Enterprise Limited (ASEL) est une entreprise artisanale qui produit et exporte des paniers en paille. ASEL permet aux femmes qui sont systématiquement exclues du secteur de l'emploi formel d'acquérir des compétences en matière de tressage de paniers en utilisant les ressources locales. L'objectif principal est de réduire la pauvreté dans les communautés rurales de la région de l'Upper East au Ghana. Grâce à ses activités, l'entreprise a réussi à améliorer les moyens de subsistance de plus de 5 000 tisseurs de paniers dans de nombreuses communautés de la région de l'Upper East. ASEL dispose d'un effectif de trente-trois (33) personnes, dont 14 (quatorze) employés permanents et 19 (dix-neuf) employés temporaires. ASEL signe un contrat d'achat avec nos vanniers qui sont majoritairement des femmes. | |||||||
