Impact, special achievements & commitmentsNtobroso-Tano Biakoye organic cocoa farmers and marketing cooperative society Limited was formally called Nyinahin Sustainability Cocoa production and community empowerment project in 2010. It was a five years organic project funded by PROGRESSOR, in The Netherland. The lead implementing organization was Agro Eco Louis Bolk Institute, success story from Ntobroso Organic project in the same district, 3 years before, wheeled the financing of Nyinahin project. After 5 years of financing by donor agency, the project was ended in 2014. The capacity of farmers built to some extent ease the change of baton. The Name of the project was changed from Nyinahin to Tano biakoye organic cocoa farmers cooperative at an Annual General Meeting in 2012. In 2017, the two cooperative meets thus, Ntobroso and Tano and based on their common objectives, they decided to merge and after the Amalgamation in July 2017 the name was changed to Ntobroso-Tano Biakoye Organic Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Cooperative Society Limited in short known as NTOTANO. Rainforest Alliance certification was dropped due to challenges with finance . Ntobroso and Tano has since been certified by Control Union international in the last 8 years. Tradin cocoa processor in Holland has been the main buyer for the cooperative Tachabana in recent times has bought from the cooperative.
