| Impact, special achievements & commitments | | | Fair Trade Enterprises Ltd is a dully registered limited company under Limited Company Law. FTE is a Social Enterprise that seeks to empower small scale farmers growing Avocados through market linkages, value addition and capacity building. The company exports Fresh Organic Avocados to both Netherlands and Spain. The company is working with approximately 61 farmers in Muranga County. The vision is to grow the number to 5,500 farmers in the next three years. Last Year (2020) the company exported 80 containers of organic avocados, which is equivalent to 1840 tons. Through this the company had a turnover of Kes 236 million tons of which 77% (KEs 182 M) went to small scale farmers. Before FTE came in farmers used to earn KES 3 per fruit when they sold to brokers, but they are now earning KES 12 per piece. This increase in farm gate price is about 4 folds. This is because of the adoption of organic production. | ||||
