Role in the sector: Fair Trade Partner

The Fair Trade Partner is the company or organization that buys products directly from the Production Operator as part of a fair trade relationship. As the first buyer in the supply chain, it plays a key role: it undertakes to guarantee a fair price, to contribute to the development fund and to respect forecast purchase volumes.
The Fair Trade Partner can also support his supplier through technical assistance, to strengthen his skills and sustainability. It is the Fair Trade Partner who markets the ingredients under the Fair for Life label, ensuring a sustainable and responsible partnership.

Why get involved?

We believe business should create value not only for customers but also for farmers, communities, and the environment. This is why we chose to partner with Fair for Life (FFL).

The FFL label reflects our values of fairness, accountability, and sustainability. It allows us to verify that our farmers and suppliers receive fair treatment, while giving our customers confidence that their herbs are sourced with respect for people, plants, and planet. Through this certification, we strengthen transparency in the supply chain and ensure that ethical trade is not just a promise, but a practice.

What is our impact?

Since obtaining our Fair for Life certification in 2022, the program has become central to our mission. It has contributed to positive change across economic, social, and environmental dimensions:

  • Economic: Fair pricing and contract structures give farmers security, stability, and opportunities for growth. Premiums of over $87,608 have been paid directly to farmer groups, along with support for registration fees and certification costs.
  • Social: We invest in farmer training, skill development, and community welfare projects. Women farmers, in particular, are being supported to run their own certified organic businesses. These initiatives strengthen rural communities and create long-term resilience.
  • Environmental: By supporting organic and regenerative farming practices, we reduce harmful pesticides and herbicides, protect biodiversity, and restore soil health. Programs in soil monitoring, agroforestry, and carbon footprint tracking ensure that our work contributes to environmental regeneration, not depletion.

Our Fair for Life journey has just begun. Today, we partner with five certified farmer groups, and we are actively expanding this network to diversify our sourcing, build capacity, and reduce risks. By embedding fairness and sustainability into every step of our process—from soil to shelf—we aim to deliver herbs that not only meet the highest standards of quality but also create a positive impact for generations to come.

We are promoting awareness about cost of cultivation and best practices in organic farming of our medicinal plants. We are encouraging our farmers to choose fixing the floor price based on cultivation costs and fair margins instead of depending upon fluctuating market prices which are based only on extent of demand and supply.
