About us ?
Mouton Cadet, a heritage brand created by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1930, crafts a collection of Bordeaux wines to offer its consumers and its community of winegrowers a quality experience inspired by deep environmental, social, and ethical values.
From vine cultivation to the blending of our AOC Bordeaux wines, the Mouton Cadet teams work closely with winegrowers to identify and implement more resilient farming practices in order to better address environmental, economic, and social challenges.
Since the 2022 vintage, Mouton Cadet Rouge has carried the Fair for Life label: 1% of its FFL revenue is donated to the Mouton Cadet Winegrowers Association to fund community projects voted on at the General Assembly. Thus, each bottle of Mouton Cadet is the result of a shared passion, sealed with ethical and sustainable commitments.

Role in the sector: Producer Operation
The Production Operator is the central player in the field.
It may be a producer organization, a company under contract or an individual farm engaged in agricultural production, picking or handicrafts.
Working directly with local communities, they implement concrete actions to improve the living and working conditions of producers and farm workers, and bring the label's commitments to life on a daily basis.
I act as a Production Operator for the following supply chain(s):

Why get involved?
The Fair for Life fair trade certification is part of a long-term vision. It lies at the heart of a responsible approach initiated over 10 years ago. A heartfelt initiative that, although unnamed at the time, already embodied our values.
This certification, among others, also allows consumers to be informed about Mouton Cadet’s sustainable practices and transparency. We are moving forward with promising projects that will continue to highlight both transition and transmission.
What is our impact?
The development fund aims to finance collective projects that are proposed, discussed, and voted on during the general assemblies of the “Mouton Cadet Winegrowers Community.”
By the end of 2024, five major themes were identified and unanimously approved, addressing current and future challenges in the wine industry:
Optimization of costs related to production, purchasing, and operating expenses, based on a study of operating costs. This project follows work initiated with an accounting firm, which led to the development of a custom calculation tool deployed among volunteer winegrowers.
Integration of climate challenges, through various tests, particularly on resistant grape varieties and vine disease pressure.
Mastery of regulations, by informing and training the winegrower community. Half-day workshops, supervised by a specialized consultant, are organized to simplify understanding and share the latest developments, especially regarding health and safety.
Consideration of operational constraints, based on a comprehensive study dedicated to cellar hygiene and the improvement of spraying techniques to protect vines while limiting the use of treatment products.
Transmission of the craft and know-how, notably by creating bridges with various schools in the Gironde region. Some winegrowers have expressed a desire to train interns or apprentices.
