| Impact, actions & engagements remarquables | | | Alaffia’s fair trade/social activities began the day their organization was founded in May 2003. They created their organization and its two-part structure based on the principles of fair trade and social entrepreneurship. Alaffia’s goal is to alleviate poverty and encourage gender equality through fair trade of indigenous resources such as shea butter and traditional soaps. Their social premium community projects were included in their initial business plan and structure and continue today. Alaffia believes investing in their communities is their moral responsibility and is necessary to ensure African resources empower African communities. Their empowerment programs include several education-based projects, maternal health, FGM eradication, eyeglasses and reforestation. Alaffia empowers Togolese communities to provide their skills and knowledge to the rest of the world and rise out of poverty. As of the end of 2018, their successes include: • 5115 births funded • 9592 bikes distributed • 81073 trees planted • 14 schools built | ||||
