Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsAt Baraka WACA DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS enjoy working with their producing partners to help them with their priorities. For the last ten+ years, well before applying for Fair Trade certification, they have been working with and through Waca Development Partners to work with the Chiefs, Women’s Groups and others in Tapko and Kperisi, two communities in NW Ghana, to support a number of community development projects. They were only able to do these projects because of the support of their customers and the collaboration of various people and development organizations. They were all a team effort and often involved their friends, neighbours and customers and, especially, Partners for Prosperity, a Cowichan Valley NGO.
Use of Fair Trade PremiumThe Fair Trade Premium has been used by the women’s groups to purchase Roasters to help them with their shea butter production. Roasters enable a more efficient roasting because of the constant turning of the material.
