Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains
Impact, special achievements & commitmentsIn line with the Fair Trade Policy of FFAK, while FFAK remains committed towards economic and social upliftment of farmers as well as making genuine contributions towards society and environment, it is equally true that such endeavours and activities remain a factor of the Fairtrade/development premium received in lieu of buying of farmers’ crops by Fair Trade supply chain under different certifications.
In context of FFL operations for wheat, it should be highlighted that the volumes remain low and the effort/documentation/procedural inputs/compliance challenge on farmer consortium remains high. Despite such imbalance, FFAK remains keen to continue the effort in hope for better future.
In 2017, FFAK members decided to use the 2016 premium towards planting fruit trees around the field perimeter wherever possible. Correspondingly, INR 17,900 were spend on about 400 fruit plants which can provide multiple benefits like shade from sun, fruits and environment impact. The 2017 premium is still unused as they await to build some reasonable corpus before undertaking further activities.
