Impact, special achievements & commitmentsErvateira Catanduvas is in the sector of production and processing of yerba mate, they are resident in the community of Catanduvas-SC and considered as a production operation committed to the FFL norm.
The production operations of yerba mate are divided in two subgroups of producers divided by regions, 4 in Catanduvas (agricultural production) and 3 in Planalto Serrano Catarinense (cultivation). All these producers have a valid organic certification for the crop.
The operator employs directly and permanently 57 workers, 38 agricultural, 6 industrial and the rest administrative and sales.
The use of the fonds of development fair trade is monitored by a committee consisting of director and representatives of the workers and of two producers, as well as a person of the community of Catanduvas. The process of decision is managed with meetings with workers and producers in order to get their expectations and demands and decision of the committee with communication afterwards in a subsequent meeting and related to the use of the funds.
Currently two types of application were realized: payment of a premium for payment of an environmental service to two producers of the region Serrana and installation of an artesian well to serve 10 surrounding houses with drinkable water.
