Impact, special achievements & commitmentsThe project provides local farmers steady access to international markets for Fair Trade Organic produce, allowing them to earn higher incomes while simultaneously promoting organic farming practices. The main product of the project is coconut sugar, which specifically benefits coconut farmers in two villages in Kulon Progo region, Hargowilis and Hargotirto. The projects activities improve the productivity, income and wellbeing of these farmers, while also improving their farming practices by providing training on Fair Trade and organic farming. Currently, the project works with 756 coconut farmers, with a production cap of 108 metric tons mold coconut sugar of which 50 metric tons can be processed into un-dried coconut sugar with the processing equipment currently in use.
