Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsLake Champlain’s Bee…Well Program received the Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Award for building a strong wellness culture and high employee participation. This past year they contributed 12% of their pre-tax profits to nonprofit organizations and programs that support the arts, education and sustainable agriculture. Their Discover Jazz Festival chocolate bar raised $ 3,200 last Spring for the Artist-in-residency scholarship in Burlington. This spring their Fair for Life committee is helping to roll out a community giving program to increase team building and fundraising within the local community. LCC’s benefit offering continues to remain very strong compared with market data and in June they will be adding paid maternity leave as well as expanding their sick time eligibility to seasonal and part time employees. Their composting program expanded to the Boyer location this winter and employees received a training around how to reduce waste going to the landfill at work and at home. With 98 % of the chocolate used to make their confections being Fair Trade Certified, LCC is committed to make purchases that promote safe and healthy working conditions, protecting the environment and enable transparency.
