Social Impact |
Social Impact & Special Achievements | Mavuno Harvest achieves social impact through 3 main methods: 1. Increasing samllholder farmer incomes by countering post-harvest loss and providing a market for their fruit which was previously wasted. This is a hands-off method of sustainable development where Mavuno merely provides the opportunity for economic growth. 2. Encouraging and growing small agricultural business in sub-Saharan Africa by providing a market for their natural farm assets. This also creates employment in the form of agricultural extension officers and production staff. 3. Use of fair trade premium to finance small social projects in the areas where the fruit comes from such as schools, access to clean drinking water and agricultural processing assets such as ovens for drying fruit and farm tools such as wheelbarrows. | |||||||
