Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsSocial responsibility is a core value of Stellar Winery. One arm of their Fair Trade programme is the 26 % worker shareholding, the other being a social development programme on the multi-estates and in surrounding communities. The projects in the programme are managed by Stellar Foundation, an independent non-profit organization, and include a free primary health care service catering to upwards of 1000 people, a holiday feeding scheme for at-risk children, a renewable energy initiative and support for rural early education.
Use of Fair Trade PremiumExamples of social responsibility projects that have been undertaken are: Bus project: A bus has been purchased to transport workers of Stellar Winery to and from work, to meetings, training and social events. Medical nurse: They have a medical nurse who sees to minor ailments, chronic medication and medical examination. Sustainable energy: They have started the 'Off the grid' project by handing out solar lights. Community feeding programs: They operate a feeding scheme at three schools during the holidays.
