Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains
Impact, special achievements & commitmentsThere are major support programs for farmers, workers and their communities. The Fair Trade fund coming from Dr Bronner’s, Rapunzel Naturkost and GEPA are earmarked for farm maintenance to improve the quality of farmers’ fields, yields and annual income. The Fair trade committee receives some $ 50,000 - 70,000/year and uses it to implement community development projects such as deep wells, accommodation for health workers, toilets, computer laboratory and library, etc. that benefit farmers, Serendipalm workers and their families.
Dr. Bronner’s has funded special fair trade projects outside FT funds through the replanting of over 100,000 improved varieties of oil palm seedlings, distributed 5000 treated mosquito nets, constructed a maternity ward to serve health needs of women in Asuom. Other projects include footbridges, renovating buildings of a senior High School for students and teachers and installing photovoltaic and other street lights in several communities with occasional replacement of bulbs.
