Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsAfrican Organic/Amfri Farm Ltd has been active in sustainable agriculture since 1999 mainly in organic standards (EU regulation, NOP rule, JAS and Demeter for the Kyampisi Farm). In addition Fair for Life certification was started four years ago. African Organic/ Amfri Farm Ltd's effort to achieve social goals with farmers, workers and communities within the project area are evident with good working relationship with people involved, especially the farmers.
By the time of this audit the company had not yet started selling Fair Trade products since there is no buyer for Fair Trade products yet.

Amfri farms Ltd donated land at the farm to two schools, mosque and 3 churches. They support the school with farming projects and grow maize which is used to feeding the children. Other projects are done on a needs basis looking at the prevailing conditions in the current surrounding where communities need help and Amfri can extend a hand.
Amfri engages in community projects on a need basis. However two permanent projects are supporting two schools which the company donated land to in terms of supporting feeding the children with porridge. Amfri has now partnered with red cross Uganda and provides staff to Red cross to help support their human resource.
Also Amfri identifies communities or persons in need all over the country and extends support as per need. Cleaning of the community where they live is done by staff once a month. The public is open to come and learn more about organic and Demeter farming (schools, upcoming entrepreneurs and universities) at no charge.
Use of Fair Trade PremiumThe internal generated premium was used for the purchase of solar lights 68 and were distributed to the already organic farmers and some key staff. An Amin trust for health was allocated, a piggy bank has been set to raise funds which will be matched by Amfri farms 50 % contribution. Also health services are extended to some of the disadvantaged people in the community. A medical camp is also being organised for the community. A part was used for the Amin trust education of the needy people.
